Come Tweet Up With @WarrenWhitlock at #PUBCON

We just finished the first full day of the
#PUBCON event here in Vegas.

#pubcon webmaster worldThese people really know how to put on a show.
If you are anywhere near here, come on down for expo, expert sessions and the
most parties per expo day I’ve seen in a long time.. or just
follow the tweets here

When I left, people were talking about 3 more parties tonight!

After speaking at
Twitter
Landscape – Hot Topics and Trends
this morning, meeting with
dozens of my tweeps and sitting through 4 sessions by Twitter experts, I was
invited to a special session where @pubcon attempted to get a large room of
people to tweet their way into trending topics (we did a lot of
networking instead). I barely made it out in time to do a final proofread on the
Smart Networking social
networking giveaway (74 free gifts here)

But we are just getting started.

If you are in Vegas, here for
#pubcon or just hanging out, tweet me at
@WarrenWhitlock
and let’s tweet up.

Wednesday and Thursday (11/11 and 11/12) will be full days for the Pubcon
Expo. I’ll be meeting with webmasters, bloggers and any of my Twitter friends
inside the expo or in the lobby of the
Las Vegas Convention Center. We’ll be
taking photos and shooting video too. Events like this are great ways to get
interviews and give interviews.. creating great content for your blog.. or just
a cool pic to tweet about.

Then Friday night, I’ll recap new Twitter features, apps, tools and
#pubcon
news
on our Twitter Radio Show.

Started the day with breakfast where we saw that Germans like Frosted Flakes

Then there was an amazing session with @GaryVee who took a question from the audience about balancing social media use with “real work”

What you have to realize is that social media IS real business

Twitter is everywhere at this conference. I took this shot while sitting next to @MariSmith during the Facebook session

Social Media Power Demonstration at PubCon Tuesday. Attend via Twitter

Attend my session via Twitter. Click here to use this search phrase

pubconI’m speaking at a PubCon seminar session titled “Social Media: The Big Sexy”

The session is described as:

It
got the buzz – it got the press – and it got your attention. Everyone
is loving talking and playing social media. However, you blog, you
tweet, you Facebook – so now what? Social media is the new frontier
with new rules and players. Skeptics don’t get social media because
they don’t see how they can measure results. In today’s world a mention
on a social media Web site is just as valuable as getting your name in
The New York Times, but not all companies understand that. Many CEOs
still believe that traditional media are the only media that matter,
but think again. To convince these skeptics companies have been pulling
their hair out trying to show them the value of a blog or tweet, but
don’t know how to convince the non-believers. This session will look at
the importance of social media hits and how to measure them, what you
can do to convince non-believers, and what you can do to show them that
social media is just as good as print media.

I figured the best way to explain the power of social media sites like Twitter would be to show them. So I’m planning to show them, and I NEED YOUR HELP

Attend via Twitter, participate from wherever you are

The event will start at 1:30pm on Tuesday Nov 11th here in Vegas. (that 4pm on the East Coast and 10am in Hawaii).

Here’s how you participate

  1. Tweet that you are going to help me show the power of Twitter and Social Media. Include the hashtags #sexy and #pubcon

  2. A few minutes before the start time, tweet again and open a window to follow these tags ( #pubcon OR #sexy) http://search.twitter.com/search?q=+%23pubcon+OR+%23sexy

  3. We will have people in the session tweeting live. There will be links for fast action fun and prizes.

If you have questions, comments, ideas, PLEASE tweet me @WarrenWhitlock

Where Else Would You Be on a Friday Night? Vegas, Baby… VEGAS!

I forget that a weekend in Vegas is a big deal for some people.. I’m here most of the time.

However, this weekend is going to be especially exciting as BlogWorld has come to Vegas @CoachDeb and I will be at a TweetUp where we get to meet many of the bloggers who have supported the Twitter Handbook project over the past few months.

Not in Vegas? No PROBLEM!

The TwitCast will go live at 7:00pm Vegas time. (log in here to see what time it starts on your computer). We’ll have twinterviews, talk about our book store book, Twitter Revolution, and have prizes to give away.

We are live from the tweetup so you can tune in from any computer and join the fun

And now.. TwitCastRadio has VIDEO!

I’ve been told I have a face for radio, but the folks at BlogTalkRadio say I should add video to the TwitCast. They have informed me that our show is featured, meaning that our network of friends will be exposed to a wider audience on the BTR network, and we can add video.

You can grow your network with the show (do this NOW so you will be ready for the show)

  1. Log in to BlogTalkRadio
  2. Create a PROFILE with your photo and real name
  3. Mark the TwitCast as a favorite and become a friend of the show
  4. Leave a comment here and on BTR if you like the show
  5. Tweet to your friends about the show on you blog, ezine and social network

When you do this, you will be all set to grow with our network.

We will announce on the show when it is appropriate for listeners to tweet their profile, post your complete Twitter URL and other like minded twitter users will follow you.

Be sure to follow up with a thank you and try to find something nice to do for the new people that follow you, such as leaving a comment on their blog, or tweeting about something cool they do.

These simple acts of kindness will pay you back when tweeps see that you are a giver, and want to know more about you and what you do. You do not neet to overtly sell them.. they will want to know you. This is the real power of social networking.

I know this works. All of my current clients come from social networking, online and offline, most of them read about me on Facebook or Twitter and my web sites before calling me.

A great way to network, help others, attract new friends and leads for your business and have a whole lot of fun.

If this is helpful to you please comment below. A live link back to you is included.. be sure to add your Twitter handle (@name) so we can follow you.Technorati Tags: , , , , , ,
