Join Coach Deb LIVE: What are you left with when Twitter Dies?

I don’t remember what life was like before Twitter but I’m starting to think about what life could be like after Twitter is gone. (Gasp! Did I just say that?! Twitter = Gone? Really?)

Now that Twitter has entered the mainstream, does it change the Twittersphere?  Is it possible to engage when you have a million PLUS followers?

You betcha!  As long as you focus on reaching people and engaging them with RELEVANT information, ENGAGING content or ENTERTAINING broadcasts.

JOIN COACH DEB & Chat LIVE!

Now that so many tweeters are using auto-follow robots to increase their followers on Twitter  by 1,000 – 2,000 a day, is anyone really listening anymore? Has Twitter reached the tipping point of being irrelevant?

Should Twitter remove the follower count from profiles? These are the debates raging in the Twittersphere these days – ever since Ashton Kutcher and Evan Williams introduced Oprah to Twitter on her show.

One of the questions I’m asked most often is how to increase followers?  But if you focus only on building your followers… your tweeps… you’re ignoring one of the key questions you should be asking yourself: where will I be if Twitter shuts down tomorrow?

Join me this Thursday for a special Ustream LIVE broadcast where I’ll my secrets for growing your list and attracting powerful influencers so you’ll know what to do when the Death of Twitter comes.

Visit Chat with Coach Deb for more details on the show, and join my Tribe to get on tomorrow’s FREE Broadcast.

Does the Media Get Twitter?

Christian Science Monitor is one of the many news pieces quoting “authorities” on what Twitter means to the business now that @Oprah has “blessed it”.

People are under the impression that they are talking to the world when trying to market themselves on social networking sites, she says. “But they are only talking to a small niche,” she says.

Twitter does have a lot of users. In fact, it saw a 131 percent rise in unique users in March alone, according to Internet research company comScore Inc. Capturing the bulk of those users, however, can be a challenge. Oprah and Mr. Kutcher can do it. But few have their brand power.

“The thing they have that everybody wants is eyeballs, but how do you monitize eyeballs?” says Ms. Quint, “Google has found a way to do it.”’

But can Twitter?

It’s NOT about eyeballs Ms Quint.. Twitter lets us connect to each other and bypass you and the media.

Stop Spreading These Oprah Rumors

I’m watching the stream on the celebrity battles to get millions of followers. That’s all good and fun for all of us.

But let’s keep it real and not get taken in on rumors like

Oprah is announcing today that she is buying Twitter

Twitter will have a fail whale for 3 days when Oprah starts Tweeting

Oprah’s show today is timed to disrupt #FollowFriday

Twitter has bots that will set realistic looking Tweets from Oprah to anyone that follows her

These rumors are not true. I hope you will join me in denying these rumors as often as possible on Twitter today.

Your blog trackbacks and comments here will help us spread the news that Oprah is not bad news for Twitter
