@GaryVee - Using Twitter to Build Your Business

August 14th, 2008
· Filed Under: Gary Vee · How to Twitter · Making Money with Twitter · New Media Expo · Social Media · Twinterviews · Twitter Videos · Twitteratti

@GaryVee could be the poster child for the revolution we talk about here at Twitter Handbook.

After his awesome keynote at New Media Expo, I jumped on stage and grabbed this Twinterview:

Gary Vaynerchuk tells why you should use twitter, where you should spend your time and how he makes money using social media - all in 140 seconds!

Enjoy!

More News That Twitter is Making News

August 3rd, 2008
· Filed Under: Twitter Stories · Twitteratti

Twitter influencing the world stories are becoming more common.

I foresee the day soon where stories like this will be about as boring as a story of a reporter using a car or telephone, but right now.. HOW COOL!

Twitter in Congress

A tweet from @CoachDeb caught my attention:

@johnculberson u just became my FAVORITE Tweeter! TX 4 keeping America informed while the lights went out on Congress by #Pelosi

I hadn’t seen the event live, but following Congressman Culberson told me more

@petehoekstra - What a great day - lots of fun & very healthy for America & the House. Our Twitters were key Pete. CSPAN used my Qik video 01:35 AM August 02, 2008

I will let you click through to see how Twitter is a tool for democracy. My objective is show how easy it was for me to get news.. even when I wasn’t paying much attention.

Should you trust Twitter.. The Exxon Mess

As soon as I finished catching up on Congress through Twitter, I noticed a message from @BenMack to read this post from @jowyang

How “Janet” Fooled the Twittersphere She’s the Voice of Exxon Mobil

The lessons learned section at the bottom of the story are a must read

Twitter is not just for telling your tweeps about your cat, hat and TV watching plans (I’m watching The Cat in the Hat.. how did you know?). All these tweets are bits and pieces of what is really going on in our lives and some of it is very important.

But remember, Twitter is much like hanging out in a downtown shopping district of a large city. You’ll find some bargains, can meet up with friends, and meet new ones (even better on Twitter). But watch out for the guy that is selling watches and handbags. They may not be the real.

Share your Twitter Makes the the News story below.. not just a story about Twitter.. but Twitter helping the news spread faster, or best of all getting the story out that we might not have heard otherwise.

What’s your favortie story of how Twitter changed the world?

I doesn’t have to be about you. You don’t need to be the person in the story, or breaking the news. We are all reporters now!

Just scroll down and post your comment so we can include you in the our book. We know that the tweets of all of us will give us a better book. We are writing Twitter style.

Be sure to include your @ name so we can follow you.

Contest: What’s Your Idea for @Simonleung Day?

July 27th, 2008

It’s @Simonleung day for our tweeps.

As we’ve done before.. we’ve chosen to honor Simon on his birthday, but asking all our followers to follow Simon and tweet about it.

But today.. I’m adding a little bit of a twist…

I’ll be choosing one commenter from this blog post to get a day later this week.. some followers and perhaps some other gifts.

Here’s how to play:

  1. Follow @Simonleung - He’s an ex Google employee, helped create Adwords, and super guy you’ll want to follow
  2. Tweet to about Simon, and his blog posts or activities.. tell your follower to follow Simon
  3. Send a “Happy Birthday” tweet to @Simonleung
  4. Post a comment here. Share your best idea about what we should do for @Simonleung day and future promtoions like.

The best idea of the day, or comment here will win the prizes.

Welcome to the Twitter Handbook. You’ve just discovered one of the hottest new sites in the new media marketplace! (aka: Web 2.0) You’ve taken the first step in joining the next social networking craze.

This site will be a collection of the collaborative works from the Twitterverse (Twitter Community).

The Twitter Handbook started as an idea that started on Twitter between a conversation between @WarrenWhitlock and @CoachDeb when they decided to organize their Tweets (Twitter posts) and share their findings, discoveries, resources, links, tools, and tips with the Tweeps (People who Tweet - or Peeps who Tweet = Tweeps) who want to learn more about Twitter.

This site will include Twinterviews (Interviews done “Twitter Style” i.e.: 140 seconds or less) with other people you’ll find using Twitter successfully for business, marketing, and connections.

If you have a valuable resource that you’d like to share first in the Twitter Handbook blog - just post your comment below, and let us know what it is.

If you’d like to become a regular contributing author to this Twitter Handbook blog, or be included in the Twitter Handbook published book - post a comment below, so that Warren or Coach Deb will be notified and can connect with you. Just tell us what your expertise is in for Twitter, and how you’d like to contribute to this project.

NOTE: All comments, posts and links shared on this Twitter Handbook blog may be included in the published book, “Twitter Handbook“. Therefore - by posting comments on this site, you’re giving permission to share your resource, or conversation.

REMEMBER:  Always include your @ Twitter Name on comments to this blog so others can start following you too!

Oh! And if you’re new to Twitter, wondering what the craze is all about, WELCOME! We’ll be sharing lots of tips and how-to videos for Twitter newbies. You can start by getting your own account and following people.

Start by following the creators of this Blog i360 site:
