@GaryVee could be the poster child for the revolution we talk about here at Twitter Handbook.

After his awesome keynote at New Media Expo, I jumped on stage and grabbed this Twinterview:

Gary Vaynerchuk tells why you should use twitter, where you should spend your time and how he makes money using social media - all in 140 seconds!

Enjoy!

Money-Making Reminder: Marketing Lessons from Twitter’s Recent Twuckup

July 24th, 2008
· Filed Under: New Media Marketing · Social Media · Twitter Tips & Tools

Over the last 48-hours or so Twitter has been a mess. Following and Follower counts have been all over the board for most Tweeters. And with this comes a valuable lesson. As the dust settles, and Twitter finalizes their database updates, most people are finding a net loss of Followers.

marketing with Twitter

This should be a wake up for you and anyone else who is using ANY New Media social channels like Twitter. The lesson learned is — DO NOT count on any social network to carefully hold and guard your followers, friends or contacts.

Social networks are merely communication channels, not storage vaults

Your main focus must be to leverage these social networks, not hang your hopes on them.

And that means moving people from interaction with you on the social network over to your New Media Marketing Hub that is FULLY under your control. (You do have one don’t you? If not, click here to learn more about the Hub concept.)

Once a person is at your Hub, you can welcome them into your subscriber family, and so much more when it comes to growing your business and boosting your bank account.

All this needs to be done persuasively, influentially and seductively. The move needs to be done without malice or manipulation. And definitely without using any of the deceptive methods of the Black Triad.

If you’re an entrepreneur, a marketer or a sales professional — you MUST take the time and effort to build your contact list separately; and in a way that is FULLY under your control.

That means:

    1. An email subscription people can initiate on your New Media Marketing hub.
    2. Building a database with off-line contact information (address, phone, etc) so you can employ a click-and-mortar approach to growing your Tribe

If you don’t take these actions, all your time, effort and connections could disappear without warning — literally overnight! ;-)

June 12th, 2008
· Filed Under: How to Twitter · Social Media

@rands writes in an excellent post called “We Travel in Tribes”

Don’t Give Me What I Asked For, Give Me What I Want

When I ask a question, I’m looking for an answer in one of three ways:

  1. Specifics.
  2. Like or Related.
  3. Rock My World.

Gary Vee on CNBC - The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch

May 7th, 2008

Gary Vaynerchuk (pronounced VAY NER CHUK) on the Big Idea with Donny Deutsch tonight talking about how he went from a small business to a big business using new media marketing.

Enjoy this video of Gary Vee on the Big Idea from the CNBC TV show to see what I was Tweeting about this evening.

Below are my Tweet recaps from this evening from @CoachDeb. And since it’s in traditional blog/twitter format - you’ll want to read from bottom to top to catch the re-cap of Big Ideas shared on the Big Idea TV show with Donny Deutsch. (Ignore spelling and typos - as it’s Twitter style of spelling to fit in 140 characters + texting from an iPhone.)

Best line from @GaryVee this evening:

“Social equity trumps private equity.”

Gary Vee stated he’d rather have a million friends than 10 million dollars. Now here’s a guy who gets “social media” and how easy it is to activate word-of-mouth marketing to the masses in such a short amount of time, all because of the technology available to us today.

What impact does Gary’s appearance on The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch have on the growing popularity of Social Media?

Is it here to stay or a passing fad?
