I heard there was going to be a big game on TV today and got to thinking..

I was hoping to get a few thoughts, and maybe some discussion on what would make someone stop following another person and the value of watching sports in general. I was never worried that some people would un-follow me.. in fact, they would be more likely to stop following because of such silly questions.
What surprised me was the the number of people who said that they weren’t planning on watching the big game, were doing so just to go along with their friends or family, or just watching for the ads.
Then @MonicaMcPherrin suggested:

And that’s how #TwitterBowl began
In true Twitter Chaos organization, I started talking to tweeps about #TwitterBowl, suggesting that anyone not watching the game.. or anyone bored with the party or TV coverage, or anyone that wanted to do both (there, that’s EVERYONE) post a tweet during the game time, before the game or whenever, with the hashtag #TwitterBowl
To follow all the #TwitterBowl action.. use TweetChat. If you reply to a post from TweetChat, it will add the #TwitterBowl tag automatically, and we’ll all know you are participating.
Goals for #TwitterBowl
- Have Fun
- NO RULES
- Watch the game or not.. Tweet if and when you can
- Tell your Tweeps about #TwitterBowl
- Talk about GOOD STUFF like http://Twestival.com and Clean Drinking Water #CDW
I’d really like to emphasize that we’re not against Football, and we’re certainly not pro-Football (pun intended). And we aren’t affiliated with the fine folks at the National Football League.
We are doing this for FUN!
and I hope to prove, yet again.. that it is OK to have fun, and do good at the same time. While we tweet, some of us will be putting up links for Twestival and other clean drinking water #CDW programs. I encourage you to click on those links, attend a Twestival near you, and give generously by tweeting to your friends and contacts on Twitter and making a donation when appropriate.
See you at the #TwitterBowl
