Do You Follow the Most Popular Tweeple?

I’ve been thinking about the Top 50 Tweeples to FOLLOW survey, and wondering what YOU think.

Do you follow people just because a lot of other people do?

I find that the number of followers a person has is not always the best guide. I’m leary of a survey that is just a popularity contest.

Don’t get me wrong.. I’m hoping you will vote for @coachDeb, @WarrenWhitlock and the cool Tweeple we have on the TwitCast… We’d like the publicity for the radio show, this site, and the book.

What say you?

Do you follow people that you know in real life? Those you meet elsewhere on the net? friends of friends who are saying cool stuff? Or just popular tweeple?

Leave a comment here. Then join me on the TwitCast tonight. We’ll be talking about “follow worthy” and answering your questions.

Where Else Would You Be on a Friday Night? Vegas, Baby… VEGAS!

I forget that a weekend in Vegas is a big deal for some people.. I’m here most of the time.

However, this weekend is going to be especially exciting as BlogWorld has come to Vegas @CoachDeb and I will be at a TweetUp where we get to meet many of the bloggers who have supported the Twitter Handbook project over the past few months.

Not in Vegas? No PROBLEM!

The TwitCast will go live at 7:00pm Vegas time. (log in here to see what time it starts on your computer). We’ll have twinterviews, talk about our book store book, Twitter Revolution, and have prizes to give away.

We are live from the tweetup so you can tune in from any computer and join the fun

And now.. TwitCastRadio has VIDEO!

I’ve been told I have a face for radio, but the folks at BlogTalkRadio say I should add video to the TwitCast. They have informed me that our show is featured, meaning that our network of friends will be exposed to a wider audience on the BTR network, and we can add video.

You can grow your network with the show (do this NOW so you will be ready for the show)

  1. Log in to BlogTalkRadio
  2. Create a PROFILE with your photo and real name
  3. Mark the TwitCast as a favorite and become a friend of the show
  4. Leave a comment here and on BTR if you like the show
  5. Tweet to your friends about the show on you blog, ezine and social network

When you do this, you will be all set to grow with our network.

We will announce on the show when it is appropriate for listeners to tweet their profile, post your complete Twitter URL and other like minded twitter users will follow you.

Be sure to follow up with a thank you and try to find something nice to do for the new people that follow you, such as leaving a comment on their blog, or tweeting about something cool they do.

These simple acts of kindness will pay you back when tweeps see that you are a giver, and want to know more about you and what you do. You do not neet to overtly sell them.. they will want to know you. This is the real power of social networking.

I know this works. All of my current clients come from social networking, online and offline, most of them read about me on Facebook or Twitter and my web sites before calling me.

A great way to network, help others, attract new friends and leads for your business and have a whole lot of fun.

If this is helpful to you please comment below. A live link back to you is included.. be sure to add your Twitter handle (@name) so we can follow you.Technorati Tags: , , , , , ,

You can listen now with this player

The Friday’s show will be LIVE from the Las Vegas Hilton, where @WarrenWhitlock and @CoachDeb will be attending the Tweetup. The Hilton is right next door to the convention center where BlogWorld is being held this week in Vegas.

101 Reasons to Tweet (iChapter #8)

Let’s demonstrate the power of Twitter and online social networking by using this chapter in such a way where you can begin to experience the Twitterverse and the power of the blogosphere for yourself. Shall we?

In this printed book, we’ve shared the TOP 10 Business Reasons you need to Tweet.

Now, it’s YOUR turn to contribute and be a part of this book – online! This is what we call an “iChapter” (interactive Chapter) where we start the chapter off here, and you finish it online with additional reasons and ways people Tweet and use online social networks.

It’s a new way of writing books – interactively. Thus the “I” standing for interactive, because the knowledge doesn’t stop here. You’ll continue to expand your mind and learn from many different people on their perspectives on how, what and why people tweet.

To add your two cents on reasons why you tweet, add your comments below.

Hey, you might discover a new way to market online and use mobile marketing for your brand or business simply by seeing another business owner’s strategy for using Twitter in their business!

The moment this book is released and available, we’ll send a tweet to our followers on Twitter and ask them to add their reasons to tweet, so you can begin to get so many additional ideas of ways and reasons to use Twitter that you might not ever have thought of on your own.

This way, you can share your expertise and learn from others and get different perspectives other than the authors of this book.  Sound like a plan?

(SIDE BENEFIT of this new way of writing a chapter:

We trust you’ll enjoy this creative way of saving paper, keeping this book shorter than a 1,000 page text book of which it could become, all while keeping you updated with the most up to date content and trends on Twitter by you taking advantage of up to date blogs and comments from users themselves.)
Let’s get the list started based on the tweets we’ve received, and trends we’ve observed during our time on Twitter…

  1. Twitter combats loneliness – in an age where we’re so busy with our lives, businesses and transient lifestyle, many solo business owners who spend 90% of their day locked up in their offices are now turning to Twitter to get inspired from other like-minded people – regardless of their geographical location.
  2. Kill the boredom when standing online – no longer do you need to be impatient when standing on a long line during the holidays. Instead, be sure to have your mobile phone with you, tuned in to Twitter so you can participate in the conversation and share a little about what you’re up to while you’re (patiently) waiting in line.
  3. Twitter is easy to use when traveling – You can tweet from your mobile phone which gives you fast communication to all the people you know who are following you so you can get help or information when you need it, or share what you’re up to so we can live vicariously through you for a moment.
  4. Twitter gives you instant access to thousands of people from your cell phone just by hitting the send button via text messaging
  5. Twitter allows you to keep your cell phone number private yet still communicate with your tribe of clients, subscribers and following
  6. Twitter gives you the ability to connect with people of diverse backgrounds, countries, areas and opinions, giving you access to a wealth of knowledge on any given subject
  7. You can outsource your memory to Twitter – next time you forget something – just tweet the question and watch how quickly your memory gets jogged with the answers you’ll get!
  8. Remember The Milk is an app that husbands are using to stay out of the dog house
  9. Jott.com and Utterz.com allows you to communicate with your tribe using voice
  10. Fast communication – with 140 character limits your clients, followers and business associates are forced to Get to the POINT and not waste a lot of your precious time

Now it’s YOUR turn to share the reasons why YOU tweet online by adding your comments below.

If you’re not part of our subscriber family already, be sure to join the Twibe so you’re notified the moment
Twitter Revolution
is available on Amazon
